Info om filter vård
Hej Mickael,
I forgot to dry out my MSR Water Filter before putting it away,
what should I do now?
MSR WaterWorks (Carbon) owners: Bacteria and fungi will grow in the damp
carbon cartridge, but the membrane cartridge prevents them from getting into your drinking water. However, you should take steps to eliminate this potential bacterial growth in your filter. First, disassemble your filter. Wash all the plastic parts in warm, soapy water. Then rinse and dry them like you would your eating utensils. Put a little silicone lubricant on the Piston O-Ring and cylinder and Filter Housing O-Rings when you re-assemble it). Let the carbon cartridge dry for a few days before re-assembling. If you do not have time to let it dry, pump at least one liter of water through it before using. MSR MiniWorks or WaterWorks II owners: The Ceramic cartridge, which comes as standard equipment in the WaterWorks Ceramic, WaterWorks II and the MiniWorks, can be boiled to kill bacteria that grow in it. Because the WaterWorks models have a "bacteria-proof" membrane cartridge immediately downstream from the ceramic cartridge, even if bacteria grow in the ceramic, they cannot get into the water you drink. Always let the water cool down before removing the ceramic cartridge from the water. Removing it early can damage the plastic end caps. (Cold water can be added to the hot water to speed this process). The MiniWorks Marathon ceramic cartridge should be boiled at least once per week on long treks, and should be boiled and dried thoroughly before storing. If the ceramic cartridge was stored wet, boil it before using.
