below.
13.1. Cleaning: If soiled rinse in clean, warm water of domestic supply quality (maximum
temperature 25°C) with mild detergent at appropriate dilution (pH range 5.5 - 8.5). Thoroughly rinse
and dry naturally in a warm ventilated room away from direct heat.(Diagrams 25, 26). Important:
cleaning is recommended after every use in a marine environment.
13.2. Disinfection: Disinfect using a disinfectant containing quartenary ammonium compounds
reinforced with chlorohexidine in sufficient quantities to be effective. Soak the product for 1 hour
at dilution’s recommended for general use using water as described in (13.1) not exceeding 25°C
then rinse and dry as per (13.1).
13.3. Lubrication: (Diagram 27). The camming mechanism must be lubricated periodically and
after cleaning, disinfection and drying. This will ensure smooth operation and help improve
corrosion resistance. A paraffin based lubricant should be sprayed between the cams and directed
at the axle and springs. Operate the unit several times to ensure even penetration of the lubricant.
Allow to drain and wipe off any excess lubricant. Important: avoid contaminating the sling with
lubricant, if this occurs refer to (13.1).
13.4. Storage: (Diagram 23). After any necessary cleaning and drying store unpacked in a cool,
dark, dry, ventilated and chemically neutral environment away from excessive heat or heat sources,
high humidity, chemical reagents/corrosives, sharp objects or other possible causes of damage.
Do not store wet.
13.5. Inspection: Inspect this product for the following:-
(a) Ensure that the unit operates smoothly throughout its complete range of movement.
(b) Ensure that when the trigger is released from any position the cams instantly return to their
fully expanded position.
Cleaning and lubrication may remedy poor action, if this is not the case this product must be
retired from use. In addition to (a) and (b) above also check this product for those points detailed
in (14).
