Have only had this jacket a couple of weeks, so until now have been restricted to using it whilst watching games of rugby in the cold and rain (I used a Rab Drillium over the top to keep dry!). Considering how small a size it packs down to, it provides great warmth, and for me will therefore be a layering item (as packs smaller than a lot of jumpers). Was very toasty with this Microlight on over a base layer, and Drillium waterproof over the top. As I intended to layer it, I didn't buy the alpine jacket version which has the hood. Should also say that unlike more traditional size/weight/fill down jackets which obviously are suited to even colder temperatures, this one is not so bulky to stop you from putting a waterproof over the top. Simple, does what you want it to - keep you warm. Its packed size means its more valuable to you if travelling light, and also allows you to wear a waterproof over the top. Appears and feels to be well made.
