Latex
Hi Ola, your latex may have broken for a number of reasons, this can include that the latex dried out from not having a protectant like talcum powder or 303, but more likey it was left some where in the sun or a very dry place (eg over a wall heater). Another common factor is sunscreen or any other chemicals it has come in contact with, including body sweat. Another common factor can be if you have to stretch more than normal (big head for example) you can repeatedly be damaging it. I have a large size head (yep waiting for a joke here), so I cut a few rings of the neck so its easily pulled over.
At Kajaktiv if we had a choice we would have another solution than latex, but a the moment its the best system to get a seal. But we are seeing better and better neoprene seals that are very elastic.
I recomend a diving shop to fix the seal, it can be messy and end up costing more doing it yourself.
Best of luck.
James
