Ang. allt snack under rubriken the dark art, så tror jag att följande intervju med Reinhold Messner kan få en del "klättrare" att öppna ögonen...
Killen som intervjuade heter Nicholas O´connell.
- Is danger a necessery part of climbing?
Without Danger of death, climbing is no longer climbing. While I´m climbing I´m trying to survive. But it is easy to survive if there is no danger of death.
Climbing is the art of surviving in very difficult situations that involve the danger of death. And the best climber is the one that survives.
- Is it fair for climbers to put their loved ones through things like that?
I think we have the right to do it.
I think it is fair. There is no difference if you die at twenty or sixty. It is never a tragedy for the one who dies, because the one who dies is not living the tragedy. The tragedy is only with those who survive. BUT a climber who is married is evolving like this and the family sees this and lives and deals with it.
For me there is no difference between climbing and living...
