Kan man veta nåt om hur "stort" det är utan att veta mer om turen och hur den gjordes? Hård trad i alpin miljö klättras ju av många trots allt.

Svaret ar val nej, men jag har talat med Jason och HK en hel del om detta. Jason var ganska nara forra aret att gora det. Wilkinson ar en annan som varit nara. Sa jag tror mig ha ett hum om hur de gjort sa om mina spekulationer stammer ar det big. Men det ar helt klart bara kvalificerade spekulationer.

Jag tror att detta kan komma att andra sig. Vad jag vet sa gjorde Richard Cross ture fritt pa vintern men inte samma utstegsvariant. But who cares. Krister Jonsson var uppe for nagot ar sedan pa den. Den ser fin ut och ar ju helt klart pa "to do list".

Utifrån informationen man har, kanske bättre att invänta deras egna officiella version, så tycker jag det är väl långt stt jämföra denna prestationen med vad Messner gjorde på 8000+ m utan syrgas.

Maestri linje retar sig många på, i dagens tidsepok och med modernare utrustning, i det att det finns att stort antal bultar på den. Så det som skulle vara intressant vore nog att kunna klättra den utan att använda bultarna och sedan i slutändan helt fritt. Inget som dessa två klätterduktiga herrarna ännu har lyckats med enligt informationen, även om man närmade sig markant. Man har även lagt till en bult på en variant och för att sedan slå bort bultar när man rappelerar...tycker personligen i nuläget att det inte var så coolt...ibland kan det vara mer banbrytande att visa att det är möjligt utan att förstöra klätterhistoria...

Choppade bultar alltid bra

Det var SJUKT ratt att choppa bultarna och det var sjukt fel av den galne Masteri att satta dem dar fran borjan. Det har alltid varit enskymf mot berget. Nu ar det fritt fram for alla att forsoka gora det an battre an Jason och Hayden om det nu gar.

The route was finally cleaned on the decent by Hayden Kennedy and Jason Kurk. In an extraordinary feat the two climbed the route without using the bolts for progression other than the few placed by Salvatera and one added by Jasons partner last year.

This is comparable to the quantum leap it would mean for Himalaya Climbing if supplementary O2 would be banned. Mountains are meant to be climbed using the skills the team has with them. Its not KOSHER to bring down the mountain to a single teams current level of climbing skills. When opening new routes on mountains the FA has a huge responsibility to do it in the best of style, not forcing them self up the mountain at any cost leaving lots of fixed shit behind. Its no been confirmed with CLARETY that the younger generations can and will improve style and manners in the mountains.

This is great news for alpine climbing where style matters. Chapeau to the boys!

2012 Piolet d'Or Lifetime Achievement: Robert Paragot

Robert Paragot will become the fourth recipient of this prestigious prize. A true amateur, the Parisian who started his climbing at Fontainbleau began his alpinism career in 1950, with the north face of the Drus. In 1954 he took part in one of the most incredible ascents in mountaineering history - the south face of Aconcagua (6995m, Argentina): the last 2000 metres of the ascent were climbed in alpine style with four bivouacs. The climb was the first in a series of innovative expeditions: 1956, with a small team, on the Mustagh Towers (7273m, Pakistan), 1962 Jannu (7710m, Nepal), and in 1966 the north face of Huascaran (6768m, Peru). In 1971 he led an expedition to climb the west pillar of Makalu (8481m, Nepal).

Piolets d’Or 2012

This years edition like last years edition will carry some sadness with it as yet again one of the nominated climbers nominated have been lost. The even celebrating Alpine Style climbing will be held in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France) and Courmayeur (Italy)from the 21st - 24th March 2012. The event will pay a spacial tribute the the recently lost Norwegian super alpinist Bjorn-Eivind Aartun. The Torre Egger FA with Ole Lied is really a worthy winner.
