"Cat's paw. This knot is like the lark's head but with an additional twist in the loop, which gives it more resistance to slippage compared to the lark's head. The cat's paw is a useful knot, but it's somewhat more difficult to tie."

"The Bimini Cat's Paw Splice is a sure way of connecting a loop to a loop without too much obtrusion into the lines natural contours. It is therefore not too bad when it comes to running through pulleys, rod guides etc. The Bimini Cat's Paw Splice is probably the strongest loop to loop join you can use. The Bimini Cat's Paw Splice is also an excellent loop to loop joiner for almost all rope classes and types. However, be sure to straighten the twists prior to pulling tight so that the knot tightens evenly and tidily. The Bimini Cat's Paw Splice retains approximately 85 to 90% breaking strain of original line."

Cat's Paw Variation
The Cat's Paw Variation is a sure way of connecting a ring, swivel or hook to a loop without too much obtrusion into the lines natural contours. Care is required in the development of the join. Be sure to keep it tidy and neat.
Sometimes called Cat's Paw Splice, however, it is not a splice. The Cat's Paw Variation is one of the most common methods for attaching a ring or a swivel to a double or loop. It retains 80% of line strength, and is an easy knot to complete.
One problem with the Cats Paw Variation is that the lines actually cross behind the eyelet and under pressure that weakens the holding power of the line. The Cat's Paw Variation can be used with super-lines, however knot strength is considerably reduced further if the line is aggressively jerked. This is a problem with all knots, however, the lack of stretch in super -lines exasperates the problem.
The Cats Paw Variation is used for attaching rings etc whereas the Cat Paw is better suited to attaching hooks. The Bimini Cats Paw Splice is best for joining loop to loop.
