Hi everyone. We are planning a hike to Scotland next year where we are going to hike the trails Great Glen Way and the South Loch Ness Trail (two trails stretching around the lake Loch Ness).
If anyone has experience from hiking in Scotland we have a couple of questions about that!
1 - Can we bring a knife, saw and axe into Scotland and hike with that (like in Sweden where that is allowed).
2 - Is it allowed to collect dry wood from the ground to make a cooking fire (and repell the mighty midgets).
3 - If the answer to both the above is NO - where do we buy gas, fuel and burners in Iverness? Or is it simple to mail those items to your self and pick up for an exemple at the hostel where we plan to stay the first night!
4 - We want to bring our hammocks and have heard that there might be a shortage of trees on some of the sections.
5 - What about maps and trail information (guide books and such) - where do we find those to buy ahead of our arrival in Scotland.
Kind regards
Andreas and Linus (soon to be a new member)
