Hej skridskoåkare,
Finally, we have ice in Nova Scotia,
Canada. Last week we had about 20 cm of snow which
mostly melted, so some lakes had slush on them.
Dec 12 I checked out Little Lake, only a small
pond about 200 m long x 30 m wide. There
was about 6 cm of slush-ice (stöpis).
I skated about 10 laps.
On the night of 12-13 it was -7. On
Dec 13 I went to Gaspereau Lake, the
biggest lake in our area (shoreline >40 km).
It was most covered in thin "one night ice".
There was a strip along the shore of old slush-ice,
> 7 cm thick. I skated back and forth
for a few km.
But we may lose most of our ice. The temperatures
will be above freezing until Sunday - PLUS 9
on Thursday! :-(
My photos on the new ice season are at:

Lycka till & Have an ice day
