Hittade ett skönt citat av Paul Brunner som jag ville dela med mig av..
"I'll say it since no one else will. Physically, big walls is like being whipped with rusty chains, all day, lying face down on hot asphalt. You wake up the next day with hands swollen to twice their size, cuticles on your fingers bleeding, hulacious bags under your eyes, slimy as a pole cat, stiffer than your Grandmother, and a mouth dryer than Ali Babba's desert. To practice, take up ditch digging (at least it pays). Mentally, big walls is like being insane, except worse, since you are aware of your insanity. High intensity followed by hours of belaying and thinking.... Here you are, in the elements, day after day, thinking, your mind peeling away like an onion.... To practice, have your friends lock you in a hot, dark room for eight days with only 1 quart of water and a Swiss army knife. Then, at unexpected times, your friends will let in a veeeery hungry pit bull scruffy. It almost makes you want to return to the couch and slam down some more Twinkees watching Rocky & Bullwinkle. But, big walls is more than great views from higher up, it's about finding more about yourself. Physically tired and mentally drained brings out the true essence of people, there's no cocktail party up there, so personalities are magnified. The wide variety of situations that happen will bring out the best, or worst in you. The feeling of topping out on a big wall is overwhelming. It may not hit you at that moment, but from then on you will always have (as Candra sez) a "Summit Secret" which is a warm fuzzy-feeling inside yourself. It's an overwhelming trip that very few can go on, and the experience will stay with you forever.
